Interview with Prof. Dietmar Schmidt, Co-President of the Joint IAP/ESP Congress 2016, on the premiere of a joint IAP/ESP congress.

One congress, one programme, one building – to perform the most important meetings of two international societies as a single event. For the first joint venture of the International Academy of Pathology (IAP) and the European Society of Pathology (ESP) this demanding task was solved successfully, according to co-president Prof. Schmidt: “For this congress, apparently the mixture was very well.”

He also explains why the congress motto “Predictive Pathology, Guiding and Monitoring Therapy” indicates the advanced role of the pathologist as a strong partner for the different clinical specialties.
